Emmet Lego Card plus Birthday Decor

First a disclaimer: I do not approve of the Lego movie at all!! It had so many positive reviews that I just let me son watch it. It was a mistake! It was way too much violence for my 5 year old. And too much violence in general. But Emmet was cute. And my son is OBSESSED with Lego.

Now onto the card. I made this card for my little boy Rafi who turned 5 yesterday!! It was very labor intensive! And I used a ton of punches (circles, word window, owl, squares, corner rounder, small oval, etc).

Here's the matching envelope.

And here's the birthday set up we put up in our living room. The highlight was the June paper pumpkin kit. Love the pinwheels.

And here's my star framelits banner with the little letters thinlints.

Feel Better for my 100th post!

My Rafi was sick with a cold this weekend. It breaks my heart when my kids are sick. So on Saturday night I was inspired to make this quick card for him. The dies are from lil inkers. Rafi loves card making. In fact, he made his own birthday card (he turns 5 on Thursday!) with me when he was home sick on Friday.

And this is my 100th blog post. I feel like I should do something special for it. A giveaway maybe? Let me know what you think!

A is for Awesome

This card was inspired by Simon Says Stamp Back to School Challenge and the layout was inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch 89.

The stamp set is Smarty Pants by Whimsy Stamps. This is my first non Stampin' Up! stamp set. I saw those paper airplanes on a card on pinterest, and I just HAD to have them. Let's just say, Pinterest is dangerous.

This card also comes with a story. I was sending my almost 5 year old son, Rafi, to school with a Dora Thermos container. One day, as I was packing his lunch, he said, "could you put the salad in a clear container?" I said, "but the Dora container keeps the salad cold and fresh." His response, "but the kids said they hate Dora."

I posted this on facebook, and our friend Lorie responded by buying Rafi a Ninja Turtle Thermos container. She wanted to make sure Rafi is cool at school. A is for Awesome, because that's what Lorie. Thank you Lorie for looking out for Rafi!

Get Well Card for a Mr.

It's been a while since I played along with a sketch, but I'm back with this fun get well card. I needed a get well card for a man, and I was completely stumped. Get well cards tend to have flowers, or rainbows, or umbrellas...Then I thought I would do something fun with my new mustache die. A bit of messing around and trying to keep to the sketch below, and this is the card I came up with. What do you think?

I wanted to try a technique I learned from an online card class I signed up for - tone on tone die cuts. But I could not find a good place for the sentiment, so I ended up hanging it from a string.

If you don't have a big shot yet, make sure to get one from SU before the end of August! There's a great promotion going on: buy a big shot, get one of 5 free stamp/framelit bundles. On top of that, get free shipping if you place your big shot order through me! (Email me for more information.) More details below from SU.

"If you're anything like us, you absolutely love having BIG opportunities come your way. That's why you can now receive one of five free stamp set/Framelits bundles (your choice!) with the purchase of a Big Shot. Check out all of the exclusive bundles here!
If you get a Big Shot now, you'll be ready for all of the new Big Shot accessories in the holiday catalog. If you already own a Big Shot, you can still purchase these discounted bundles at an amazing 15 percent off! This is one deal you won't want to miss. These bundles are one-time only exclusives and are only available until August 31!"

Fishin' Around CASE Rosh Hoshana card

As promised, here's another Jewish New Year card. Fish are another traditional Rosh Hoshana icon.

I can't take credit for the creativity of this card, I CASed this card from here, only adding a word bubble with Happy New Year.

The gold fish is from the vintage set "All Wrapped Up." All other supplies listed below.

Vintage Style Jewish New Year Card

My much younger sister (she's 17!) was visiting last week, and she requested that we make some Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) cards to send to her campers in September. As Stampin' Up has exactly one Jewish stamp set, and I don't own it, and in general there's a shortage of Jewish themed stamps, I had to be a little creative..

Here's the first card I came up with (check back later in the week for a couple more...):

Apples (with honey) are a traditional Rosh Hashana food, but I decided to give them a vintage feel with the typeset specialty paper (love it!). The happy new year sentiment is from the fabulous "Good Greetings" stamp set, which you can earn free by booking a September workshop with me.

Here's a close up of my lovely apples:
