The first greeting card I made was out of necessity: I forgot to purchase a birthday card for our friend's daughter's first birthday party, and I was stuck at home with my napping toddler...So I pulled together some scraps from the mail (mostly Shutterfly photo envelopes), and made a card. It was a big hit. My friend said it was one of the few cards to be saved as part of the baby book. I was hooked.
I'm a crunchy mama of two, a hobbyist photographer, a part time college math lecturer, an engineer by training, and as of July 17th, a Stampin' Up demonstrator too.
Since I'm pretty new to Stampin' Up, I still pretty short on supplies - so I'll be doing a lot of tricks to make the most of what I have, and I will also be using some retired equipment(but I'll try and link to a similar current Stampin' Up set).
Here's my first card. I saw this card on the Stampin' Pretty blog, and I could not wait to make it (but first I had to order a couple more circle punches and the Sassy Salutation sentiment set).
I made a few modifications. I did not have candy dots (on my wish list), so I used hole punches instead. And I embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder (I made the mistake of skimping on the black ink pad assuming I would rather use embossing powder, but I think today I would have preferred to keep it simple).
Card Stock: Whisper White, Eggplant, Pale Plum (retired)
Stamps: Sassy Salutations
Ink: Versa Mark
Tools: 1/2" Circle Punch (119689), 3/4" Circle Punch (119873), 1" Circle Punch (119868), 1 1/4" Circle Punch (119861)
Embellishments: Black embossing powder
